. . . he cleans up your mess when you have the flu.
He really did this for me this weekend. I was sick in bed for 3 days. Not only did he clean up after me, but he also took care of my work responsibilities on Saturday night. We had a big event that night and the unexpected illness was truly inconvenient. The amount of stress I would have felt asking the other staff to come in and cover for me would have compounded my sickness had he not been there. He placed all of the important calls, loaded my car with supplies, and went to our event and set them up. He also made several trips back after certain things the team remembered were needed. All the while I slept.
It's times like these that I recall something Dr. Kevin Lehman writes about pre-marital counseling. He likes to tell young men that real love means waking up in the middle of the night and cleaning up your pregnant wife's vomit and rubbing her back until she feels better. And he's been happily married for several decades.
P.S. We're not pregnant. ;)

What a loving thing to do for you! Rich sounds like a great guy!
Hope you are feeling better.
Doug never woke up in the middle of the night to clean up my vomit but I'm still happily married. I've not puked in the middle of the night though so we haven't tested it. I've never cleaned his up either. In fact, I made him clean it up himself in the morning. I think I'm still learning how to be a good wife.
Had to laugh at the clarification ;) Never ever would have even crossed my mind! James used to be so squeemish over puke, I'd offer to clean his up, he'd refuse and get sick again cleaning up his own. Thankfully, having kids fixed that ;)
Keeper, keeper, keeper!!!!!
